The 1st London Infantry Brigade was a 1st Line Territorial Army brigade during the Second World War. As the 1st London Infantry Brigade it was part of the British 1st London Division. On 28 November 1940 it was converted into the 167th (London) Infantry Brigade, part of the 56th (London) Infantry Division. This brigade saw extensive service in Italy. The Territorial Army (TA) is the spare time volunteer force of the British Army. With around 35,500 members, the TA forms about a quarter of the overall manpower strength of the British Army. TA members regularly volunteer to serve overseas on operations, either with TA units, or as individuals attached to regular units. Over one thousand TA soldiers are deployed overseas on operations each year. The highest ranking Territorial is Major-General Greg Smith TD who is Assistant Chief of the Defence Staff (Reserves and Cadets).

EU Warranty Label

The European Union is introducing a mandatory, standardized EU label to provide information about consumers’ statutory warranty rights. This will be complemented by a guarantee label where a voluntary manufacturer’s guarantee is offered.

The purpose of this new regulation is to make consumer rights more transparent and to establish consistent information standards across the European Union. Consumers should be able to see at a glance which statutory minimum protections apply, regardless of the country or retailer from which they make a purchase.
