(GENERALIZED) FUZZY MATRICES AND RELATIONS
The book provides an overview of the main concepts and results related to fuzzy matrices and fuzzy relations, using 'fuzzy' in a general sense to mean many-valued. This overview, along with numerous references to original contributions dispersed across various journals, serves as a comprehensive guide for further exploration. This volume can be viewed in two ways: (i) as a companion to the author's previous work, "Relations: Concrete, Abstract, and Applied" (published by WSPC, 2020), but with a distinct emphasis on many-valued concepts; or (ii) as a standalone volume that can be read independently, which necessarily includes some repetition of material from the earlier book as preliminary or reference content.Similar to the previous book, this one does not present new findings but offers a self-contained compilation of known results selected from the extensive research conducted over the past five decades, arranged in a systematic manner. The topics covered in this text have been the subject of intensive research over the last two decades, yet there has been no book publication on this subject for over 15 years. This book aims to bridge that gap.
(Mostly) Commutative Algebra
This book stems from lectures on commutative algebra for 4th-year university students at two French universities (Paris and Rennes). At that level, students have already followed a basic course in linear algebra and are essentially fluent with the language of vector spaces over fields. The topics introduced include arithmetic of rings, modules, especially principal ideal rings and the classification of modules over such rings, Galois theory, as well as an introduction to more advanced topics such as homological algebra, tensor products, and algebraic concepts involved in algebraic geometry. More than 300 exercises will allow the reader to deepen his understanding of the subject. The book also includes 11 historical vignettes about mathematicians who contributed to commutative algebra.
{2}-Inverses and Their Statistical Application
Much of the traditional approach to linear model analysis is bound up in complex matrix expressions revolving about the usual generalized inverse. Motivated by this important role of the generalized inverse. the research summarized here began as an interest in understanding. in geometric terms. the four conditions defining the qnique Moore-Penrose Inverse. Such an investigation. it was hoped. might lead to a better understanding. and possibly a simplification of. the usual matrix expressions. Initially this research was begun by Francis Hsuan and Pat Langenberg, without knowledge of Kruskal's paper published in 1975. This oversight was perhaps fortu nate. since if they had read his paper they may not have continued their effort. A summary of this early research appears in Hsuan. Langenberg and Getson (1985). This monograph is a summary of the research on {2}-inverses continued by Al Getson. while a graduate student. in collaboration with Francis Hsuan of the Depart ment of Statistics. School of Business Administration. at Temple University. Philadelphia. The literature on generalized inverses and related topics is extensive and some of what is present here has appeared elsewhere. Generally. this literature is not presented from the point of view of {2}-inverses. We have tried to do justice to . the relevant published works and appologize for those we have either overlooked or possibly misrepresented.

13 Lectures on Fermat's Last Theorem
Fermat's problem, also ealled Fermat's last theorem, has attraeted the attention of mathematieians far more than three eenturies. Many clever methods have been devised to attaek the problem, and many beautiful theories have been ereated with the aim of proving the theorem. Yet, despite all the attempts, the question remains unanswered. The topie is presented in the form of leetures, where I survey the main lines of work on the problem. In the first two leetures, there is a very brief deseription of the early history , as well as a seleetion of a few of the more representative reeent results. In the leetures whieh follow, I examine in sue eession the main theories eonneeted with the problem. The last two lee tu res are about analogues to Fermat's theorem. Some of these leetures were aetually given, in a shorter version, at the Institut Henri Poineare, in Paris, as well as at Queen's University, in 1977. I endeavoured to produee a text, readable by mathematieians in general, and not only by speeialists in number theory. However, due to a limitation in size, I am aware that eertain points will appear sketehy. Another book on Fermat's theorem, now in preparation, will eontain a eonsiderable amount of the teehnieal developments omitted here. It will serve those who wish to learn these matters in depth and, I hope, it will clarify and eomplement the present volume.
