A Multi Criteria Evaluation of Blockchain Technologies Applied to the Healthcare System
Master's Thesis from the year 2019 in the subject Computer Science - Applied, grade: 8,5, Leiden University, course: Information and Communication Technologies in Business, language: English, abstract: This research focuses on how blockchain can optimally adapt and improve the healthcare system. It proposes an analysis of the multiple blockchain solutions, proposed until the time of this research, and their technical features. Different blockchain types, as well as different consensus algorithms, result in different benefits, advantages and limitations regarding their application to the healthcare system. This research aims to find out, through a multicriteria evaluation, how these benefits change with different blockchain technologies.Blockchain is the disruptive innovation that will change the way we exchange value. While this innovation is being considered for multiple businesses, its potential to revolutionize the healthcare system is also gaining attention. How useful would it be to access, every time we want, and we need, our full history of health records? Moreover, what if patients could own their medical data? Healthcare system will become patient-centered. On the one hand, the overall quality of healthcare would undoubtedly rise and, on the other hand, costs, risks, and deaths will belikely to decrease. Patients will be able to see a complete picture of their medical history maturing a broader responsibility on their daily routine. They could be the CEO of their health. Doctors will be able to access real-time life-saving data, update records for their patients and so on, avoiding in this way data silos, extra costs and information blocking. However, 'we do not own our data; we just visitthem from time to time' and, interoperability between health providers is still a hurdle to overcome.
A study on network intrusion detection using classifiers
Research Paper (undergraduate) from the year 2019 in the subject Computer Science - Applied, VIT University, language: English, abstract: In these days of rising internet usage, almost everyone has access to the internet. It is available easily and readily. So along with increase in popularity and importance it also leads to an increase in risks and susceptibility to unwanted attacks. Networks and servers and more prone to malicious attacks than ever. Cyber security is vital in this age. Lots of organizations now interact and communicate with people via the internet. They store huge amounts of data in their computers or devices connected to the network. This data should only be accessed by authorized members of the organization. It is possible for hackers to gain unauthorized access to this data. A lot of sensitive information is present in the data which might lead to harm in the hands of hackers. It is important to protect the network from being attacked in such a way. Network security is an element of cyber security which aims to provide services so that the organizations are safe from such attacks. Intrusion detection systems are present in the network which work along with the firewalls to detect and prevent such attacks. For this project, we aim to identify the suitable machine learning technique to detect such attacks and which can be used in state of the art system.
A Survey on Requirements Elicitation
Research Paper (undergraduate) from the year 1998 in the subject Computer Science - Software, grade: 0, University of Kaiserslautern, language: English, abstract: The first step during the software development, requirements engineering, is very critical because of the high effort (in time and costs) that has to be made to correct mistakes detected later that have been made in this early phase of software life-cycle. In order to support the aim of high-quality software, the goals of requirements engineering are developing a complete as possible specification, providing integrated representation formalismsand accomplishing a common agreement on the specification. The very first activity that has to be passed through is requirements elicitation. There are existing three main problems: the problem of defining the scope, the problem of understandingthe users' needs and the problem of requirements volatility over time. You can follow several heuristics and guidelines to find solutions to these problems. In addition, several techniques and methodologies have been suggested to support the process ofrequirements elicitation. They differ in several ways: the kind of problem they intend to solve, the methods used for achieving this aim, the kind of people involved, the level of abstraction and precision the requirements have to be formulated in.In this report, a selection of these techniques and methodologies is chosen and they are classified into a classification scheme worked out. The techniques and methodologies can coarsely be divided into four classes: interview-oriented approaches, objective andgoal analysis-oriented approaches, viewpoint analysis-oriented approaches, and scenario analysis-oriented approaches. There are others that do not fit into this division, but provide nevertheless help for requirements elicitation. The developed classificationscheme highlights the differences between the existing techniques. It should serve as an overview of existing techniques and methods as a guideline for analysts and developers for finding an appropriate method for problems at hand.

Agile Methoden in der Softwareentwicklung
Agile Software Development. Comparison and Evaluation of Existing Tools
Research Paper (postgraduate) from the year 2015 in the subject Computer Science - Software, grade: 1, Riphah International University Islamabad, course: Agile Software Development, language: English, abstract: Agile software development is a group of software development methods in which requirements and solutions evolve through collaboration between self-organizing, cross-functional teams. It promotes adaptive planning, evolutionary development, early delivery, continuous improvement and encourages rapid and flexible response to change. [1] In the agile software development different tools are used for the management of projects. Every one use these tools according to their need and requirements. If we take a look on the past then we came to know that different companies were mainly used MS Excel, word, and PowerPoint for storing and managing requirements and product backlogs and MS PowerPoint for managing projects. The development teams, on the other hand, used simple physical tools such as paper, sticky notes, and whiteboards. But it is experienced that the simple tools were insufficient for and unsupportive in managing large numbers of requirements and projects. So we got the need of some tools to manage and control all of the tasks in our project like scheduling, activities, planning, estimating, features, meetings, roles and release date etc.. Therefore a large number of tools are available in the market but the problem is to find the best one of them. Our task was to perform a detailed analysis of the agile tools, their usage and their needs on the basis of project work load. In this paper we present the result of our survey to find out a best agile project management tool to meet the company requirement and to support their needs. Therefore we have completed the survey on different tools practically like AgileZen, Rally, Versionone and some of others. This paper is organized as follows. Section 1 is based on the introduction of the problem and a brief knowledge of agile and agile tools. Section 2 is about the agile methodologies and of their usage. Section 3 is based on the detail note on existing agile tools and on their features. Section 4 is lists and describes the comparison of these tools on the basis of their features and usage which we have used in our survey. Section 5 is based on the evaluation criteria and on the detailed features of our chosen agile tool. Section 6 present the evaluation result of our own tool based on the criteria described in previous section. Section 7 describes the conclusion and observation and gives a brief result of this research.

Analysis of UAE Open Government Data Usability within Mobile Application Development
Master's Thesis from the year 2014 in the subject Computer Science - Applied, grade: A-, , course: Master of Applied Science in Information Systems Management, language: English, abstract: The aim of this study was to determine the status of the United Arab Emirates' Open Government Data usability within the mobile application development. This was done by reviewing the usability factors to develop a mobile application and assess the OGD datasets. An assessment instrument was designed by the researcher based on the reviewed usability factors, to assess the UAE OGD datasets. From the study it was clear that major factors in mobile application development usability by OGD are data completeness, data format and support for developers by offering Application Programming Interface (API) and guides, majority of datasets were found to be complete an indication that UAE OGD has a strong point in data completeness. However, the current UAE OGD does not encourage the developers to build mobile applications because lack of data format support and missing of API and guides. Guidelines to improve the current UAE OGD have been proposed based on the results. The civil society for a number of years has been pressing the government to produce machine readable presentations of the collected data. One of the greatest Open Government Data (OGD) goal was to aid developers come up with mobile application that can improve citizen's live and in turn also enhance the country's economy. Mobile applications forms a powerful channel to serve and reach businesses and citizens, hence the study aims at analyzing and evaluating the present UAE OGD usability for developing mobile applications that can be used to aid UAE through identification of current OGD weaknesses and the needed solution.
Arabic Handwritten Text Recognition and Writer Identification
Doctoral Thesis / Dissertation from the year 2017 in the subject Computer Science - Applied, grade: 3, , language: English, abstract: Most of the governments and organizations have a huge number of handwritten documents generated by their daily processes. It is imperative to use computers to read the generated handwritten texts, and make them editable and searchable. Therefore, handwritten recognition lately became a very popular research topic and the number of its possible applications is very large. It's capable in resolving complex problems and simplify human activities by converting the handwritten documents into digital form. However, the Arabic handwritten text recognition is a complex process compared with other handwritten languages because Arabic handwritten text is cursive of nature. Therefore, this thesis proposed an Arabic handwritten text recognition and writer identification system based on segmenting the input handwritten text into handwritten sub-words. The system has two main modules that are used, for the recognition of the handwritten text and identifying the text's writer. The first module1 has six stages that work together to recognize the Arabic handwritten text and convert it into editable text. These stages are: image acquisition, segmentation, preprocessing, features base construction, classification and post-processing. The second module2 is identified the desired text's writers through several stages that similar to module1. The system proposes an efficient and accurate segmentation algorithm that segments the input handwritten text into a number of handwritten sub-images and each of these segmented sub-images has an Arabic handwritten sub-word. Besides that, an image thresholding algorithm is proposed to convert the sub-images into binary based on using fuzzy c-mean clustering method. Furthermore, the binary sub-images went through proposed noise removal algorithm in order to remove undesired pixels. After that, two groups of features are extracted from the handwritten sub-images. The first features group that is used for models1 includes structural, statistical, Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) and proposed Modified Histogram of Oriented Gradient (MHOG1) features. However, the second features group which is used for module2 includes proposed MHOG2 and shape features. In addition, best classification results are obtained by using Support Vector Machine (SVM) classifier.

BMEcat is an open source XML based standard, developed by the BME, Fraunhofer Institute, University of Essen and Linz to support the supplier - customer business in the industry. The special in BMEcat is the wide range of supported branches. So it is possible for a company to have a look on all needed products and services to run the business, not only the production related. In 2004 we are preparing for version 2.0 with the integration of openTRANS as a document interchange standard. The paper describes the working system and the structure of the standard; comparing it to other solutions and showing up some experiences of users. Finally we sketch the future of BMEcat.
Can static type systems speed up programming? An experimental evaluation of static and dynamic type systems
Master's Thesis from the year 2011 in the subject Computer Science - Software, grade: 1,0, University of Duisburg-Essen (Institute for Computer Science and Business Information Systems), course: Informatik - Empirische Softwareforschung, language: English, abstract: Type systems of programming languages are a much discussed topic of software engineering. There are many voices arguing towards static as well as dynamic type systems, although their actual impact on software development is rarely evaluated using rigorous scientific methods. In the context of this work, a controlled experiment with 36 participants was conducted which tried to compare the performance of software developers using a static and a dynamic type system for the same tasks using an undocumented API. The two programming languages used were Java and Groovy. The experiment and its results are analyzed and discussed in this thesis. Its main hypothesis was that a static type system speeds up the time developers need to solve programming tasks in an undocumented API. The main results of the experiment speak strongly in favor of this hypothesis, because the static type system seems to have a significantly positive impact on the development time.
