Also, many of the prospective viva and interview questions are solved along with a few chapter outlines, covering many of the pharmacy courses. However, it is very important to remember that no study aid can help do well in a viva session or job interview unless a knowledge base is kept sharpen. This study aims to support a pharmacy student or professional to give an accelerated mental support when books are not feasible to carry before an interview and viva session. The expanded role of pharmacists uplifts them to patient care, industrial marketing, regulatory affairs from dispensing and manufacturing of drugs. The sector is emerging in both developed and under-developed countries. Furthermore, pharmacy teaching institutions need to revise and update their curricula to accommodate the progressively increasing development in the pharmaceutical education and the evolving new roles of practicing pharmacists in healthcare arena.
The repellent properties of leaves of Melia azedarach against locusts were identified, tested and popularized for the first time in 1944 at Pasteur's institut in Algeria. This specie of plant is an ornamental tree of the Meliaceae family, very little mentioned in the literature. Studies on the toxic properties and anti-palatable related compounds triterpenoid including the azadiractine contained in the different parts of the plant (leaves, fruit, bark against the locust) and olive PEAR psylla arise over the last decade. Our contribution through this study could expand the spectrum of action of the plant using three doses at different concentrations of the aqueous extract of leaves on aphid Aphis craccivora pest of pepper in greenhouse in organic farming. Statistical analysis has yielded highly significant results after 72 hours of treatment for three doses. The importance of the results prompted us to develop this study for its positive properties to health and the environment.
Adverse Drug Reactions (ADRs)
Script from the year 2018 in the subject Medicine - Pharmacology, Pharmacy, grade: A, , course: Pharm. D, language: English, abstract: The WHO defines an "Adverse Drug Reaction as any response to a drug which is noxious and unintended and which occurs or doses normally used in a man of prophylaxis diagnosis or therapy of disease or for the modification of physiologic function."Adverse Drug Reactions (ADRs) are types of Adverse Drug Events (ADEs). Adverse Drug Events include ADRs, prescription errors, medication errors and other drug-related problems. ADEs are the negative consequences' of drug misadventures. Henri Manasse defined drug misadventure as the iatrogenic hazard that is an inherent risk when drug therapy is indicated. The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) defines significant ADRs as an unexpected, unintended, undesired, or excessive response to a drug that includes the following.

Our study concerns the evaluation of the antibacterial and cytotoxic activities of three essential oils extracted from: Citrus aurantium, Pelargonium gravéolens and Juniperus phoenicea. The extraction of essential oils by hydrodistillation has revealed yields varying between 0.7 and 1%. The antibacterial activity of these three essential oils is evaluated on a bacterial population composed of nine bacterial strains, by the method of dilution in liquid medium and shows that the average value of the minimum inhibitory concentrations (MIC) is 0, 8% for the EO of Citrus aurantium and 2% for the EO of Juniperus phoenicea. All the strains tested are sensitive to concentrations less than or equal to 2% of the EO of Citrus aurantium, however resistance is noted for Enterococcus faecalis , Escherichia coli 22 and Staphylococcus aureus vis-à-vis the EO of Juniperus phoenicea. Our results reveal better activity on Gram-positive bacteria for the two HESs tested.

Magnetically Targeted Drug Delivery System
Bachelor Thesis from the year 2010 in the subject Medicine - Pharmacology, Pharmacy, grade: 1,0, Harvard University (Division of Continuing Education ), language: English, abstract: Tissue grafts and transplants tend to get rejected by the body, and are also prone to higher rates of infection than other tissues of the human body. Thus, the patient must take immunosuppressant drugs as well as drugs that treat infections, which end up in both the tissues they are targeted for and the rest of the body. These drugs can leave the patient prone to further infection and disease, thus the drugs can end up causing as much harm as the initial infection. Furthermore, cancer and tumor medications have harmful effects on the rest of the body, and even though many of them may have specific affinity for the targeted tissue they end up in nearly the same dosages in the rest of the body since their specified tissue affinities are usually low. The Purpose of this thesis is to discuss alternative ways of delivering medication directly to the targeted tissue or organ and isolate it there. Thus having only minimal-to-none dosage throughout the rest of the body leading to minimal side effects. If a magnetic field can be set up internally by the use of external magnets it may maintain high concentrations of magnetically labeled particles (which will carry medication) within the assigned part of the body at high concentrations while the rest of the body should have zero to very low concentrations. The system to be discussed is based on ferromagnetic particles that absorb medication and are attracted to magnetized coils, which will be inserted in the required area prior to treatment. The inserted coils will be magnetized by the use of externally applied magnetic fields, which will allow for magnetically targeted drug delivery. Thereafter, different types of ferromagnetic nano-particles will be presented and categorized based on their usefulness. The nano-particles usefulness is based on their affinity for drug absorption, toxicity, magnetic capability, and ease with which they can be removed from the body once treatment is complete. Secondly, the types of magnetic coils will be discussed; how the coils can be inserted, how they work, their toxicity, and removal mechanisms will be reviewed. Lastly, the factors of the magnetic field required to make this delivery mechanism work will be examined; factors such as strength required to keep the particles in the specified tissue, side effects the field may cause, and whether these magnets can be made portable to be used by a patient outside the hospital.
Marijuana legalization. Positive and negative effects of marijuana for medical purposes
Academic Paper from the year 2019 in the subject Medicine - Pharmacology, Pharmacy, grade: A, , language: English, abstract: Several jurisdictions around the world have passed laws legalizing the use of marijuana for medicinal purposes. These legislations allow for the use of cannabinoids and cannabis to alleviate some of the symptoms associated with terminal cancer, epilepsy and neurological illnesses. However, there are serious public health concerns associated with marijuana as some experts argued that these jurisdictions have not effectively regulated its use in a manner consistent with the international drug control treaties. In many cases, Subbaraman (2014) indicated that marijuana is being diverted for use in non-medicinal purposes. In most of these countries, poor regulation of medical cannabis programs is attributed to the low perception of risk among the policymakers and the members of the public as a whole. In the United Kingdom and several countries in Europe, marijuana is either totally banned or its use is heavily regulated. As a result, there have been increasing calls for the UK and the rest of Europe to follow the footsteps of Canada, the Netherlands, and a growing number of states in the United States where the use of marijuana for medicinal purposes has been legal for quite some time. In this regard, this essay evaluates whether the UK and the rest of Europe should legalize marijuana for medicinal purposes. This paper explored some of the positive and negative effects of marijuana on the people and the rest of the economy.
Neue Antibiotika gegen Krankheitserreger
New antibiotics against pathogens
Seminar paper from the year 2020 in the subject Medicine - Pharmacology, Pharmacy, grade: 1,3, Anhalt University of Applied Sciences Köthen, language: English, abstract: This paper summarizes new antibiotics that have been approved since 2019 and those that are currently in phase I or II clinical trials. Antibiotics are active substances that inhibit the growth of bacteria or kill them. Since their discovery over 70 years ago, antibiotics have been our most important weapon in treating bacterial infections, including life-threatening hospital infections. But their effectiveness is under threat as their indiscriminate use has created antibiotic resistance. The increasing spread of resistant germs makes the development of new antibiotics urgently necessary. There is still a great need for new antibiotics, especially antibiotics against multi-resistant Gram-negative bacteria in hospitals.
Nitroglycerin Sustained Release Tablet. Formulation Design and Evaluation
Master's Thesis from the year 2010 in the subject Medicine - Pharmacology, Pharmacy, University of Dhaka (M. Pharm, in Pharmaceutical Technology), language: English, abstract: The aim of the present studies was to develop and characterize 2.6 mg sustained release matrix tablets of Nitroglycerin. Tablets were prepared by direct compression method. Methocel K15M CR and Methocel K100LV CR polymers were used as rate retarding agents in nine formulations (F-1 to F-9). The granules were evaluated for angle of repose, loose bulk density, tapped bulk density, Carr's index, Hausner ratio, moisture content, total porosity and assay. The tablets were subjected to diameter, thickness, assay, uniformity of content, assay after 1Month at 40°C+75%RH, hardness, friability, and in vitro dissolution studies. The granules showed satisfactory flow properties, compressibility, and drug content. All the tablet formulations showed acceptable pharmacotechnical properties and complied with pharmacopoeial specifications for tested parameters. The in vitro dissolution study was carried out for 8 hour using USP-2009 Apparatus-I (Rotating basket method) in distilled water as the dissolution medium. The release mechanisms were explored and explained by Zero order, First order, Higuchi, Korsmeyer-Peppas and Hixson-Crowell equations. Nine formulations were prepared by using three variable ratio of two polymers; Methocel K15M CR (25%, 20% and 15%) and Methocel K100LV CR (15%, 10% and 5%) where all the formulations (F-1 to F-9) contained 0.5% colloidal silicon dioxide and 1% magnesium stearate. Among these nine formulations, six formulations; F-2 (Methocel K15M CR: Methocel K100LV CR = 25% : 10%), F-3 (Methocel K15M CR : Methocel K100LV CR = 25% : 5%), F-4 (Methocel K15M CR : Methocel K100LV CR = 20% : 15%) F-5 (Methocel K15M CR: Methocel K100LV CR = 20% : 10%), F-6 (Methocel K15M CR : Methocel K100LV CR = 20% : 5%) and F-7 (Methocel K15M CR : Methocel K100LV CR = 15% : 15%) met the official specification of release profile. It was also found that the type and the amount of polymers significantly affect the time required for 50% (T50% or MDT) of drug release, release rate constant and diffusion exponent. Higher the MDT value indicates a higher drug retaining capacity of the polymers and vice-versa. Kinetic modeling of in vitro dissolution profiles revealed the drug release mechanism of all proposed formulations followed anomalous type or non-Fickian transport (n>0.43 and n<0.85). These studies explored both of the optimum concentration and effect of polymers on Nitroglycerin release pattern from the tablet matrix for 8 hour period.
Nutraceutical Regulations in the Indian Market and Comparison with the United States and Europe
Document from the year 2022 in the subject Pharmacology, Andhra University, course: PHARMACEUTICAL REGULATORY AFFAIRS, language: English, abstract: A product that combines pharmaceutical efficacy and food safety is called as a Nutraceutical. It is used to describe foods that have therapeutic or nutritional properties. They have the capacity to attract a lot of customers due to the potential quality of health benefits supplied to the human body. A brief explanation of how these products are regulated in India, along with the schedules, registration process, method of preparation, labelling, claims, and its advantages are clearly explained in this article. A comparison table is prepared comparing various parameters like definition, scope, forms, fees etc. for India, United States, and European Union.Traditional foods and herbal extracts have been acknowledged as an essential component of the holistic effort to attain total well-being and health throughout history, particularly in the ancient Ayurveda system of medicine in India but also in traditional Chinese, Roman, and Greek medicine. "Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food" as Hippocrates (460-377 BC), the well-known father of modern medicine, declared, to emphasize the correlation between suitable foods for nutrition and their therapeutic effects. The guiding principle was "Focus on prevention". Theophrastus (370-285 BC), Cato (234-149 BC), Pliny the Elder (23-79 AD), and Galan (131-201 AD) all issued statements warning against the adulteration of food products at that time. Since 2000 BC, Schwan has used microorganisms (fungi or yeast) 1837 to produce products through the alcoholic fermentation process. Funk (1884-1967), the father of vitamin therapy, started a new investigation on vitamins and identified them as nutritional required components for the survival of good health. Dr. Stephen L. De Felice, the chairman and founder of the innovation of medicine, coined the word "nutraceuticals." in 1989 by the combination of two words "nutrition" and "pharmaceutical". Essentially, this is a marketing tool.
Preparation of Herbal Solid Dosage Form
Project Report from the year 2010 in the subject Medicine - Pharmacology, Pharmacy, grade: A, , language: English, abstract: Herbal medicines formulations are used to alleviate many types of diseases in the recent world. Because of the similar properties and the combination of the ingredients synergistically increase the efficacy, Nigella sativa (family-Ranunculaceae), Apis mellifera (family-Apidae) and Olea europaea (family-Oleaceae) were collected from the market for preparing an herbal product in a suitable solid dosage form preferably tablet. First time tried to prepare a tablet dosage form but it did not satisfy the parameter of a standard tablet dosage form due to oil containing ingredients and technical error. Then choose to prepare capsule dosage form with granules by using zero size capsule shell (#0) & eventually prepared successful herbal capsules. The most important challenges faced by herbal formulations arise because of their lack of complete evaluation. Moreover, for evaluation of capsule containing multiple herb, various parameters were tested such as organoleptic parameters, ash value etc & for finished product (capsule) include uniformity of weight, pH, disintegration time and effect of temperature & humidity of the product and all test accomplished the satisfactory results with the standard specifications.
